Display Cases Allow You to Showcase the Things You Treasure

Display cases and cabinets make a great addition to any entertainment den. Putting something on display that you treasure can not only give you a sense of uplifting pleasure every time you see it but generate a lot of interest and conversation.

One of my friends keeps family photos, pictures of trips she has taken around the world with her husband, souvenirs and even some of the early toys of her son in display cases.

They can be instrumental in revealing things about your guests that you may have never found out otherwise. Your guest sees something, comments on it then launches into a story. Before I go on to show you some display cases from Amazon (United States) I’d like to share with you some ideas about what you could put in a display case.

Model Airplanes /Spaceships

Have a passion for aviation and have your own collection of planes? Why not share this hobby with friends who come over?  I’m a huge fan of the video game trilogy Mass Effect. Commander Shepherd has a nice display case of spacecrafts in his living quarters. I may eventually do something similar with spaceships from Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and Mass Effect.

Your Travels

I use to have a satellite map of the world that was in a big picture frame on my living room wall. It had red metallic lines showing the flight path of the planes I was on and the countries I visited were marked with metallic gold. Around the map were small pictures taken on my travels.  You could come up with something similar and the display cabinet would give you a chance to display small souvenirs as well.

Display Guns

Do you and your friends have an interest in guns? Whether it’s airsoft guns, replicas or the real thing it’s bound to draw a lot of attention and generate a good amount of conversation.

Your Achievements

If you have won lots of trophies you can display them with pride.

Fictional Figures

If you are an avid enthusiast of video games, D&D or superheroes you will find plenty of things to fill your display case at your local hobby shop or on-line. Models from the worlds of Halo, Gears of War, Diablo and Mass Effect. Dragons, dark elfs and heroes from Dungeons & Dragons.  Iron Man, Spiderman and the Fantastic Four.

History

If you have a strong interest in history then you might like to display ancient coins, celtic artifacts or replicas of things from history that interest you.

Geology

Feel a special connection with the Earth and the rocks and minerals it contains? Set up a nice display for your friends to see.

There are many kinds of things we can use to display items around the room. Curio cabinets, display cases and cabinets, bookshelves and ordinary shelves,  console tables and display racks. If you like any of the products and want to check them out over at Amazon (United States) where I’m an affiliate right click on the image and open in new window.

Curio Cabinets

A curio is a rare, unusual, or intriguing object. Curio cabinets might have antiques, beautiful wood carvings or special figurines in them.
